Seymour Rail Heritage Centre Tour

The LRRSA tour this year will be to the Seymour Rail Heritage Centre on Saturday 28 November 2026 at 1PM.

The Centre is located at the end of the Victoria Street extension, Seymour VIC 3660 and there is plenty of parking on the bitumen outside the gate. The Centre is an easy 10-minute walk from Seymour railway station and a large sign at the end of the extension points to the entry.

Members will be required to make a $10 donation per person to the Centre for the tour, which will be hosted by volunteers who have come in especially for our visit.  Members are requested to wear stout footwear and to sign the visitors book, to comply with the Centre's health and safety requirements.

Since inception in 1983, the Seymour Rail Heritage Centre has been dedicated to the preservation of their fleet of heritage rollingstock. Their carriages cover over a century of history including royal and vice regal cars and well known ‘S’ types and some that once featured on the iconic ‘Spirit of Progress’. 

Currently the Centre has about 4 hectares within their boundary fence. Large sheds for undercover storage and restoration works have been erected along with workshop facilities. In addition, the Centre has about 3 kilometres of sidings (including new dual gauge sections) which were built to accommodate their expanding fleet.
